Sample Pack! Paul Farace exclusive – courtesy of Kick It Recordings

People often ask me how they can improve their percussive sound quality. Well, the answer is simple, get high quality samples! I am a sample hound. While I generally don’t use extended samples (loops), such as melodies, basslines or drumbeats – in my productions (unless it’s a remix), I am a fiend for – royalty free – high quality percussion and fx one shots, and I spend a lot of time tracking them down. If you want your track to sound good, you need to use good samples, it really is as simple as that.

Courtesy of Kick It Recordings, I present you with this short and sweet percussive sample pack from audio engineer and pro producer, Paul Farace.

The pack consists of some very nice analog kicks & snares, interesting fx builds and drops and percussive/hat loops and a few break loops. Enjoy, and don’t forget to thank Farace by checking out some of his top notch breaks productions on Beatport, or other online retailer.

Milestone: 1,000 Downloads – Daft Punk – Around The World (Sonaris Extended Prog House Rmx)

As of this morning, my progressive house remix of Daft Punk’s “Around The World” for their “Homework” album has reached a major milestone of 1,000 downloads on InternetDJ – in just two short months! To the best of my knowledge, this is my most downloaded remix to date. I have gotten a tremendous amount of great feedback from DJs, Daft Punk fans and even people who have said they didn’t like electronica until they heard this remix.

There is always a tremendous amount of pressure when working on, and releasing, a remix of a track like “Around The World” which – on its own – has millions of loyal fans. You never know how it’s going to be received by people. It is, quite possibly, the greatest feeling in the world to hear from people – that listening to it put a smile on their face or made them want to get up and dance. Nothing beats that.

So, if you haven’t heard it yet, or haven’t gotten a copy, you can listen to it – and download it for free – here on InternetDJ.

If you’re in a party mood, check out this sick mash-up from Ross Click (aka Modo8) on Soundcloud, also up for free download!

Thank you for all of your support and appreciation, it’s really what motivates me and keeps me wanting to continue to work on these bootleg / underground types of projects.

Article: Unblocking A Writer’s Block [2010 Remix]

Foreword: I wrote this article a couple of years ago, for my peers on InternetDJ, and for myself – to read over later. Over time, I’ve gotten a lot of great feedback on it, and a few blogs have re-posted it for their readers. So, I thought I’d go through it, clean it up and revise it a bit, and add a few new tricks. Enjoy!

Writer’s block is something which hits hard in the literary department, but producers and composers are not immune, either. There are cracks in the brick wall of creative dullness, however, and they must be exploited. I’ll start this article off with a quick throw-back to the past to try and analyze this epidemic which can hinder your creative genius. I’ve met a lot of people have gone through the same ordeal, so I thought I would try to lay out my thoughts in a concise manner and maybe help some emerging talent overcome this disease…

Hard At Work

A few updates:

I am still in a holding pattern with the Arreliari LP, currently going through the mastering process at a fancy NY studio, to be released – hopefully – at the end of the summer.

Finished a progressive house remix for Max Deep, an artist on dJessa‘s label – Electric Love Records – which will also hopefully be released toward the end of summer.

I have a new progressive house track finished, called “Closer To Home” which will likely be part of a small 3-4 track progressive EP which I hope to release end-of-summer / early fall. I may do a teaser 128kb stream of this one, or I might not, not sure yet.

As usual, I have a couple more interesting projects in the works, but more details on that later, as more becomes known! Stay tuned, lots of good new music to be out soon!

Moving Things Along

I’ve finally settled on the Monochrome theme from mono-lab, which I think will work out quite well for the time being.

I am currently working on putting together a few loops, of which I have literally many thousands, and get some of those available here as a pack. The loops will be in .wav format, anywhere from 5-30 seconds in length and will be royalty free for commercial use (the loops will not available for licensing, however).

Also, I will shortly begin selling brand new singles, EPs and a full length LP on the site, via InternetDJ. The purpose of doing this is, you will be able to quickly purchase any music of mine – which you like, it will be high quality sound, and I will make more $$$ than I would selling through a distributor, which means lower prices for you. Everyone wins!

I am playing around with the possibility of having some of my tracks be for sale exclusively on this site. Of course, expect free downloads of remixes and other stuff, on here, as well. I am open to suggestions, so feel free to drop a comment.

The Beginning

I finally decided it’s time to make my own website. It’s probably going to take me a minute to get going, so stay tuned and check back. I’ll have free music, new music for sale, free samples, loops and lots of other interesting stuff up here soon. Thanks for the support.
